TOOGALAH ?

What is the meaning of the name "Toogalah" ?

There are various versions of the source of the name "Toogalah".

It has been said that "toogalah" is an Aboriginal word meaning "a tranquil place by the water", however we have not had this verified, and as the Aboriginal people had many languages, this is not easily confirmed or denied.

There is a property named Toogalah tucked away in an isolated valley that certainly fits the "tranquil place by the water" definition.

The other definition of toogalah is that it comes from "two galahs", a galah not just being the Australian bird, but also in Australian slang a person who is somewhat eccentric and humourous. The latter definition fits the two main personalities involved with Toogalah, who are also the owners of the Toogalah property.

That two galahs of the bird variety are used as a logo with Toogalah is simply because it is readily identifiable and Australian.

At this point most people have reached a level of confusion concerning the source of the name, so let's just say it's a nice name.

In any event, the two galahs of the people variety have been involved with camping and touring in both Australia and Europe for more decades than they care to remember, and hence can provide a special level of service to Toogalah customers for European touring.
